Discover the joy of making gifts of true distinction, learning to make pens is a challenge, but it is also fun and rewarding too. With some prior experience adding the skilful art of pen making to your repertoire can be done with a one day pen making course.
During the one day course you will learn how to prepare the blanks and insert the tubes from the pen kits. You will learn how to turn the prepared blanks down to the precise size needed and then finish the turned work to a high standard. You will finally learn how to construct the pens to guarantee a quality finished product to be proud of. During a one day course students can turn two or three well finished pens to return home with.
Without prior experience of woodturning I would recommend you consider a two day course to learn pen making. The first morning would be spent getting students confident in handling the tools and working wood on the lathe. The afternoon would be spent learning the basics of pen making and making a simple twist pen. The second day would be the same as a one day course. During a two day course students can turn three or four well finished pens to return home with.
This course is for those who live too far away to travel daily and students will enjoy comfortable accommodation and food from our farm and garden.
